Apology
It goes back
A few years or so,
With a bond as tight as Ziploc.
Same classes,
Close lockers,
Endless sleepovers
Then something came in between.
Who knows the who, what, and whys?
Maybe too much control.
Simple confrontation turned to much more.
Parents got involved
Friends came to pick and choose sides
Hurtful words flooded,
Secrets spilled.
Next came the careful, cautious contemplation.
“Should I forgive?”
It wasn’t sudden
Very gradual,
Considering the pros and cons
Face to face, feared yet fierce.
Verbal matters and questions.
Socially, it was awkward,
Just as awful as a nightmare.
It was a little rough around the edges,
But it was granted.
We remain drifted apart
But are closer than ever.
At the end of the day,
When there’s trouble,
The understanding is unbelievable.
Friends can make time,
Regardless of the circumstances.
The arguments were smaller than the bond,
And forgiveness was the aid.

The mood of this poem was serious. The use of alliteration in this line, "Face to face, feared yet fierce," really adds to the poem.
ReplyDeleteAs I read this poem, the mood I felt was peaceful yet also very light in an important way. You used a lot of alliteration to bring a flow to the poem, such as, ¨Who knows the who, what, and whys?¨ You also used alliteration in the lines, ¨Face to face, feared yet fierce,¨ and, ¨Next came the careful, cautious contemplation.¨
