In my Mustang shifting gears
Six speed to seventy
Seven seconds rush by
Driving fast down a no lane road
The barren blacktop beneath my whirling wheels

Guard down, top down,
Deep bass country music turned up.

I’m going a million miles an hour
With no care in the world, no thoughts in my head
I’m not looking back, I’m living for today

With my Mustang as my witness
I accelerate along on my journey
To where? I don’t know
As long as it’s not where I’ve been.

  1. The mood is exciting, and the poetic device that tells me that is a hyperbole, "I’m going a million miles an hour."

  3. Awesome poem! The personification, "With my Mustang as my witness," add great figurative language to the poem.
