All
Tobacco Products Need To Be Criminalized.

Think about the billions of unlawful actions in this country. What might come to your mind? Theft, types of violence, illegal drug use, anything. But you might also think of something that should be illegal; one thing that might come to your mind is tobacco products that are still legal. Tobacco’s horrendous and vile nature is clearly a message that tobacco criminalization is mandatory.
Simah Herman was someone
who had vaped on a daily basis with her parents unaware of these habits.
Despite having much healthy exercise as a dancer, this habit of everyday vaping
caught onto her as she suddenly stopped breathing and drifted off into a coma. Despite
Simah being on the verge of death, she luckily survived and started a no vape
campaign, according to Abcnews.go.com.
450,000 deaths every year
occur from the usage of tobacco, with the youngest death being a 15-year-old
from Texas, according to the New York Times. This just shows how deadly
products with relations to tobacco can be, considering the young age of the
victim.
Tobacco contains many
toxic chemicals like nicotine, which is an addictive chemical that makes people
have the urge to have more and more, but that's not the only appalling chemical
in there. According to Health.org, many uncanny chemicals such as 1-3
butadiene, which is used to manufacture rubber and to preserve wood. These
bizarre chemicals can cause serious impairment to you. Yet, these tobacco
companies get very little punishment for being corrupt.
It's well known that many
people who use tobacco have a high chance of having an ill-starred expedition.
As many diseases and other health problems occur from this, the most notable is
the notorious disease known as lung cancer. But, according to Heart.org,
tobacco products also have links to stroke, heart disease, and other chronic
diseases, and can also risk cancer to the throat, mouth, kidneys, and bladder.
Tobacco product users aren’t
the only ones to get affected; secondhand smoke or vaping can affect people
with the exact same problems as the people who smoke or vape. It would really
be a shame if some innocent people suffered from the side effects of tobacco.
You may also ask the
reason why people smoke. According to Veterans.smokefree.com, the reasons why
people might smoke or vape might be because of stress relief, pressure, and
being in social situations, and people with PTSD smoke more intensely than
people with no PTSD. Also, tobacco relieving stress is just as believable as a
fairy tail since it has links to worsening depression and anxiety.
Tobacco is like a ticking
time bomb; the more you use tobacco
products, the more likely a horrendous, unfortunate future. It is incredibly
clear that tobacco companies and their products are a menace to society. We humans are fighting a “war” with tobacco
we don’t even know about. All tobacco products need to be criminalized to help
save future generations from all its disreputable acts.
ReplyDeleteIn Evan S’s editorial, I believe that he thinks that all tobacco products should be criminalized, and I also agree with him. I agree with him because tobacco products kill people every year and are very dangerous. In the editorial, it states that 450,000 people die every year from these products. There is also a story about a girl who went into a coma from vaping even though she was otherwise a healthy person.
Evan I agree with you on how tobacco products are super, super bad. also how we are fighting a war with tabaco. I agree with you apinon because tabaco is hurting and killing people every day. ¨450,000 deaths every year occur from the usage of tobacco,¨ that is just crazy.
ReplyDeleteEvan, I absolutely agree with you that tobacco products should be criminalized. I strongly agree with this because I also feel that as generations continue the urge for younger people to have tobacco products is getting stronger and stronger. I also agree with the fact that innocent people shouldn't have to suffer from getting exposed to second hand vaping.
ReplyDeleteEvan, your stand is that all tobacco products need to be criminalized, and I agree with you. When you listed all of the fatal diseases people can get from using tobacco products, I couldn’t believe why so many people would still risk their life to use them. The fact that about 450,000 deaths occur every year from tobacco use is concerning and we definitely need to put a stop to it! Great job on your writing!
ReplyDeleteYou state throughout this editorial that tobacco products are very harmful. I agree with you, many kids think that since tobacco is legal it is perfectly safe. Most kids who start using tobacco or other drugs either have a family member using it or their friend but in other cases, they try it just for fun and to see how it tastes. Like Simah Herman many other people in the world use these drugs on a daily bases without knowing the true dangers of these products.
