What is music?
Why do we
Like music?
Is music
A way for
Us to leave
Our lives?
Can music
Bring us
Together as
A human
Race?
Yes music
can. Music brings us
together like glue can make things stick.
When music is playing we are one with
the
artist. When we listen to music we are not
Thinking, oh is this artist black? No, we
do not think about that, we think of the
song. We think about the song. We
think of the
lyrics and what our next
song will
be about. - Pat McGreal
This poem was really good and I thought the central idea was unity because in your poem it says "Music brings us together like glue can make things stick" and I thought that that was a really good line in the poem.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing poem that makes me really think about music. One central idea I can infer from this is acceptance. One line that really stood out to me was "oh, is this artist black?" When we listen to music we accept the music, we don't care about who made it. So I think the lesson is to accept people for what they are. When we listen to music we're accepting their song, we don't think about who made it. We're accepting the people for what they do, and who they are. Great poem!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful writing! And the structure of the poem adds even more to the piece; the first part is just asking questions in a more soft way that gets us thinking, and then there's a much stronger section after that that is even more powerful because of the way you wrote it. It also looks almost like a music note. Wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteThe message you tried to express in this poem is something more people need to understand. The message of appreciating good art, regardless of the artist, was most prevalent in the line "we think about the song."
